William J. Pillar, 73, of Bethlehem, passed away in his home on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. Born and raised in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late William and Paula Pillar. Bill graduated from Liberty High School and attended Lehigh University. His Catholic faith was deeply important to him as a congregant of Saints Simon and Jude’s Church. He served in the Navy on USS Independence (CVA-62), was employed at Bethlehem Steel as a rate setter in Industrial Engineering, and held positions as a real estate agent, sales manager across a spectrum of domains, performed large equipment and infrastructure installations, and reclaimed precious and rare earth metals from electronics. He most recently worked in Maintenance at Moravian House. Throughout his life, he experienced joy in listening to and playing music, reading suspenseful thrillers, dancing, watching movies, gardening, cooking healthy meals, and participating in and watching sports with a big love of baseball, reminiscing fondly of an All-Star Little League game where he pitched a no-hitter and hit the winning home run.
