Robert E. Hornberger, Sr., 82, of Grovetown, GA formerly of Bethlehem, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. He was the widower of Jean R. (Trauger) Hornberger. Born on October 28, 1940 in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Lester Hornberger Sr. and Anna (French) Hornberger.
Robert worked for Bethlehem Steel for over 30 years until he retired. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He earned several medals including a Purple Heart, Bronze Star with Combat, National Defense Service, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Commendation with Combat V, and Good Conduct. He was a member of the Swift Boat Association.
Survivors: Robert will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Brenda Rayburn and husband Christopher; sons, Robert Hornberger, Jr. and John Hornberger; grandchildren, Ileah Rayburn, Jarek Rayburn, Marina Sandoval, Quintin Hornberger, Erika Hornberger, Brenna Hornberger and Gabriel Hornberger; great grandchildren, Ryland, Rhen, and Everleigh Sandoval; best friend, Bo the African Grey.
Services: A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 21 at 1:00 P.M. at Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St., Bethlehem PA 18018, where the family will receive friends and relatives from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park. A memorial tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
