Mary E. (Day) Beres

Mary E. (Day) Beres, 96, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2023 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late William R. Beres. Born in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Violet (Adams) Day. Mary worked for the Bethlehem Area School District for 14 years in the cafeteria. She was a devoted volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 15 years and also read the news for the blind. Mary was a member of the YMCA, Bethlehem, former member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, Bethlehem, and current member of  St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Walnutport. She was active in bible study groups and volunteering in the church to make meals for the homeless. Mary enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling. 

Survivors: She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Robert Beres and his wife, Susan of Walnutport; daughters, Dianne Beres of Philadelphia and Linda Beres of Virgina; grandchildren, Mary, Laura, Hadassah & Hannah and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings Daphne Whitney, Nancy Grissom and Wilbur Day. 

Services: A Graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Holy Saviour Cemetery, 2575 Linden Street Bethlehem, PA 18017. Mary’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
