Josephine (D'Emilio) Stern, passed away peacefully with her daughter and son in law by her side at home in North Myrtle Beach, SC on Saturday, November 12, 2022. Born March 20, 1925 in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill, PA where she lived most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Castellucci) D’Emilio. Josephine was the loving wife of Paul D. Stern whom she married in 1946. She worked as a billing clerk for Spirax-Sarco Allentown for 25 years until retiring in 1987. Josephine was a member of the Golden Hillers social group enjoying fellowship, fun and trips with many of her life long friends. She was also a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fountain Hill. As an excellent baker, everyone looked forward to the delicious dark chocolate cakes, walnut filled pastries and sugar cookies she brought to family gatherings. She was always willing to share recipes and techniques, but results were never were as delicious as those that she made. An avid reader, she read and recorded over 2,200 books in her lifetime. Above all, Josephine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was predeceased by her husband Paul, grandaughter Lisa Marie Hoffman, sisters Louise D'Emilio Haldaman, Mary D'Emilio Evans, Lucy D'Emilio Lechman and brother Vincent D'Emilio.
Survivors: She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Susan and son in law Wally Hoffman with whom she resided as well as many loving nieces and nephews and her grand dog, Cooper.
Services: A Memorial Service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street Bethlehem, PA 18018 where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10 A.M. until time of the service. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
