James R. Greatsinger

James R. Greatsinger, 95, of Bethlehem Twp., passed away peacefully on Monday, December 5, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson. He was the husband of the late Helen E. (Ayres) Greatsinger with whom he shared over 66 years of loving marriage until her passing on April 7, 2015. Born in Elmira, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Rachel Greatsinger. James was a graduate of Southside High School, Elmira and Broome County Technical School. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy and also served for the New York State Guard as a Battalion Commander for 14 years. James worked as a machine and tool designer for Westinghouse for over 20 years. One of his most proud accomplishments was designing the camera that was installed on the rocket ship that went to the Moon. James was a Tall Cedar and was a proud Mason in the Jesse L. Cooley Lodge #966 of Elmira for 50 years. He was an avid sailing enthusiast and he enjoyed gardening and growing raspberries and blackberries. James loved traveling especially with his wife as she called square dancing and he cued round dance. 

 

Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Cindy Greatsinger of Bethlehem Twp. and Linda Battistini of Philadelphia. He was preceded in death by his son Charles J. Greatsinger and brother William Greatsinger. 

 

Services: A Funeral Service will be held at 6 P.M. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street Bethlehem, PA 18018 where the family will receive relatives and friends from 4 P.M. until time of the service.
