Ernest Alatzas Obituary

 

Ernest “Nesty” Alatzas, 94, of Scranton, formerly of Bethlehem passed away on January 26, 2023. He was the widower of Betty Jane (Edelman) Alatzas. Born on October 21, 1928 in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Urban) Alatzas.

 

Nesty worked as a truck driver for 35 years at Durkee Famous Foods and 7 years at Penske Leasing, before retiring in 1991. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Nesty was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan.

 

Survivors: Nesty will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Debra Wright and husband Dennis of Langhorne; son, George Alatzas and wife Marie of Allentown; grandchildren, Jamie, Adrian, and Alicia; 8 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by sons, Ernest Alatzas Jr., and John Alatzas; sisters, Mary Benner, and Marcina Strock.

 

Services: A graveside service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
