William George Boes, 91, formerly of Rockaway Point, NY and Slatington PA, entered eternal life on February 4, 2010 while in the care of Moravian Village and his family.  He was the husband of the late Stella (Sherer) Boes. Born in New York City, he was a son of the late C. Henry and Mary (Remmert) Boes. He was a 1937 graduate of Richmond Hills High School and worked many years for the NYC Housing Authority as a carpenter before retiring and was the founder of the Rockaway Record News paper. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Rockaway (Breezy Point) NY, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Nocturnal Adoration Society. He was also a member of the watchdog committee that saved Breezy Point.
Survivors: Daughters, Barbara Cortegiano and her husband Ernest of Katonah NY; Christine Boes and her spouse Renae Bennett of Slatington;  son, William J. Boes of Stuart FL; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry Boes and Francis X. Boes.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 2010 in St. Thomas More R.C. Church, 20425 Rockaway Point Blvd., Far Rockaway, NY. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Queens. Arrangements entrusted to Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
